學校占地面積3330畝，下設24個學院，2個獨立學院，40余個科研機構。學校有全日制博士、碩士研究生和本科生33000余人，成人繼續教育學生18000余人；圖書資料320余萬冊，是中國高等教育文獻保障系統云南文獻信息服務中心建設單位，建有“萬兆主干”的新一代“數字校園”。《云南師范大學學報?哲社版》進入全國高校文科學報30強之列，為CSSCI來源期刊、中文核心期刊、中國人文社會科學核心期刊；《云南師范大學學報?自然科學版》為中國科技核心期刊；在全國大學學報中首創《云南師范大學學報?對外漢語教學與研究版》，綜合影響因子在全國同類期刊中排名30位，為“全國高校優秀社科期刊”。

　　學校有文、史、哲、法、教、管、理、工、經濟、藝術10大學科門類，形成多學科協調發展的學科與專業格局，在2012年教育部第三輪學科評估中有22個學科排名全國高校前20位，3個學科排名前10位。現有90個本科專業，2個博士后流動站，1個一級學科博士點，7個二級學科博士點，26個一級學科碩士點，130個二級學科碩士點，有教育碩士、工商管理碩士（MBA）等13種專業碩士學位授權點，是全國首批招收和培養漢語國際教育碩士專業學位研究生的24所試點高校之一。
